What is a sewer pit and what does cleaning it involve?

A sewer pit, sometimes called a sewer inspection pit, boundary trap or overflow relief pit, is an access chamber built into your property's wastewater line. It gives you and your plumber a point to inspect the pipe, catch debris and clear blockages before they reach the main council sewer.
