What septic tank cleaning actually involves

People use "cleaning," "pumping," and "emptying" interchangeably, but a proper service is more than just sucking out the liquid. A full septic tank clean includes:

• Locating and uncovering the tank. We find the access lids, dig them out if needed, and open them safely.
• Pumping out the contents. We remove the liquid effluent, the floating scum layer, and — critically — the settled sludge at the bottom.
• Removing the sludge properly. This is the part cheaper operators skip. If the compacted sludge at the base isn't broken up and removed, the tank fills up again far faster and never truly works as it should.
• A visual inspection. While the tank is empty we check the baffles, inlet and outlet, and the general condition of the tank walls, and flag anything that needs attention.
• Licensed waste disposal. Everything we pump out is transported and disposed of at a licensed facility, with the paperwork to prove it.
