AWTS cleaning and desludging
An AWTS has treatment chambers as well as pumps, aeration equipment and controls. Solids still accumulate, even when the unit is receiving its regular service checks. A desludge removes that buildup from the tank. Tell us the make and model, if known, so we can discuss what your unit needs.
Cleaning is separate from routine servicing
A tank pump-out does not replace the scheduled mechanical checks, reporting or other servicing required for your unit. Our focus is cleaning and desludging. Confirm your ongoing service arrangements with your system technician, and check the requirements that apply to your property rather than assuming a pump-out covers them.
When to call
Let us know if you notice an alarm, unusual odours, drainage problems or wet ground around the disposal area. These can have several causes, including faults that require a service technician. Describe the symptoms and your recent maintenance history when you call; cleaning alone may not resolve the problem.
Booking the right pump-out
Have the system model, last desludge date and any service technician recommendation available. Tell us about driveway access and the location of the chambers. We will explain the cleaning work, confirm the price and discuss timing before you book.
Before the truck arrives
Tell us where the tank or pit is, how the truck can reach it, and whether there are gates, narrow driveways or other access limits. If you have system plans or previous service records, these can help us identify the right access point. Let us know about any other tanks or pits that need attention when you book.
AWTS cleaning questions
Does a desludge include routine service reports?
A desludge is a cleaning job. Ask your ongoing service provider about routine checks and reports, and tell us if you have been advised to arrange a pump-out.
How often does my AWTS need desludging?
Follow the recommendations for your unit and its measured sludge levels. Household use and system size affect the interval; there is no single schedule that suits every unit.
What if I have a conventional septic tank?
See our septic tank cleaning service. If you are unsure which system you have, call with the details from the unit or your service records.
Other cleaning work on the property
We also clean sewer pits and stormwater drains. Mention other work when booking so we can discuss whether it can be arranged together.
